What makes a great thortful creator?

Occasions WIN!
All the best cards are geared towards a specific, card-sending occasion. It could be anything from Birthday to Mother’s Day or Anniversary – use our categories on the site if you’re looking for inspiration! Sometimes it’s as easy as adding ‘Happy Birthday’ to a pre-existing caption: this can really help to make your card fit for its purpose, and means that customers are much more likely to click on it.

Nails the style
In order to create a great design, the best creators have a winning formula: an original design that stands out in the “crowd”; legible text (it will usually be first viewed at thumbnail size); fun aesthetic that matches the card’s sentiment.

Exclusive to thortful
If content is king, then exclusive content is the Holy Grail! thortful values cards which are exclusive to us, and our aim is to have a collection of the most unique, fresh content in the industry. Exclusive cards are highlighted with a special badge, so customers know they are unique and not available from our direct competitors.

Knows their audience
Once a great creator has thought of a card idea they first think “who will send this card?” (i.e. the customer) and “who might they send it to?” (the recipient). Does the design suit a friend or a parent, a colleague or the one you love? the more relatable they are, the more popular they are. If you can find a card which resonates with you then you’re much more likely to buy it – whether it makes you chuckle, ‘facepalm’ or blush.

We moderate them to ensure they meet minimum print quality criteria and will appeal to our customer base.

You promote your designs as soon as they have been uploaded using your custom Creator URL.

We promote and market the best designs to our global audience via our search results, landing pages, organic social media posts and paid advertising.

Frequently asked questions

Does thortful charge any fees to open an account and sell my designs?
Not a penny, it's completely free.
Can my designs be purchased as soon as they are uploaded?
Yes. As soon as your designs are uploaded you can share them with your followers. Make sure to provide a link to the cards or to your profile page, so that people can easily view and purchase them straight away.
Do you take copyright?
In short, no! We license your design to print as a greeting card or derivative card product, but we don't take any exclusivity. If you choose to sell on thortful only (and mark it as exclusive) then we highlight the design accordingly in line with our Terms of Use. However, you are not contracted to provide us with exclusive content.
